Biography

Alexander is following in the footsteps of a long line of great British drivers as a recipient of the prestigious talent prize, the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award. He won this in 2008, emulating the feat of F1 race winners David Coulthard and Jenson Button, and this honour culminated in his maiden Formula 1 test with the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team at Silverstone last winter.

In the meantime, Alexander had enjoyed two strong years in Euro Series Formula 3, being a race winner in both seasons and twice finishing 4th in the Championship.

He had cut his teeth in car racing with two seasons with famed Yorkshire team Manor Competition in the British series for 2.0-litre Formula Renault cars. He won a race in his debut season in 2007, and then lost out on the title by the narrowest of margins in 2008 courtesy of the dropped scores rule.

Prior to this Alexander had enjoyed a stellar karting career for eight years, which included winning three British Grands Prix, the British JICA Championship and the Monaco Kart Cup.

Alexander comes to Status Grand Prix in the GP3 Series as a part of the elite Gravity Sport Academy management programme, which has backed him since the start of last year, and is dedicated to propelling talented drivers to Formula One.
